Natural Orchards

The cultural landscape in the Stuttgart Region is strongly shaped by its old natural orchards. One particularly fine example, and a rarity because of its tall, gnarled old fruit trees, is the “Gewann Kressart”. It was planted in the hardship years of the 1920s by the city of Stuttgart so that the townspeople could provide themselves with cheap fruit. An educational trail provides information on the old fruit varieties.
