On the Experience of Time
for a dancer, a puppeteer, and a puppet
Mathilde takes us into the world of an aging woman living alone. With her, we immerse ourselves in the rituals of everyday life, where time seems to stretch endlessly or condense into the bliss of a single moment. For her aging body, the simplest actions become adventurous explorations of space, in which reality and imagination blur: A sound. An absence. A memory. A melody rises and sweeps her into a dance—with the past, with her alter ego, or, in the end, only with herself?
The project “Alone” explores, through dance and the medium of puppetry, the realm of perception and memory in an aging person. When the woman falls, a young dancer appears—daughter, caregiver, or her own younger self? A duet unfolds, caught between rescue and a final struggle.
