BOWIEdeutsch - Zwei Frauen. Singen Bowie. Auf Deutsch

BOWIEdeutsch
Two women. Singing Bowie. In German.

That’s how the theater/concert performance BOWIEdeutsch
by the Munich-based artist sisters Anouschka and Anina Doinet describes itself in a nutshell—according to the
arts section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, it is a “masterfully crafted blend of video art,
performance, and song.”
For many years, the musical and performance artists and
sisters Anouschka and Anina Doinet have been exploring a central figure in pop culture:
David Bowie.
This exploration has resulted in adaptations into German and an evening featuring
16 songs presented as 16 mixed-media theatrical experiences:
A mesmerizing rush of live singing, video art, and music centered on the cosmos of the
artist of the century, David Bowie.
Thus, the familiar songs take on a completely different impact when they are visually and
musically reimagined and performed in German. The show thus offers not only an
exciting musical event, but above all the opportunity to rediscover David Bowie.
In the summer of 2024, BOWIEdeutsch was named one of the
best productions of the season (in the “Interdisciplinary” category) in the “Deutsche Bühne” season review.

David Bowie’s music is the soundtrack to so many lives, young and old alike.
To bring the spirit of his songs to life, to discover and create a unique world of
music, language, and imagery for each song.
And to bring Bowie’s lyrical artistry to life in their own native language—that is, faithfully translated and adapted into German
and performed live—making it a tangible experience.
This is what the artist sisters Anouschka and Anina Doinet set out to do in their
music project “BOWIE deutsch”:
16 songs as 16 mixed-media theatrical experiences combining live vocals, visuals, and sound—familiar yet
at the same time entirely rediscovered—following in the footsteps of the exceptional artist David Bowie.
In the summer of 2024, “BOWIEdeutsch” was named one of the
best productions of the season (in the “Interdisciplinary” category) in the “Deutsche Bühne” season review.
