Café 612

Location:
Rosenau - Lokalität & Bühne, Rotebühlstraße 109 b, 70178 Stuttgart

Café 612 from Ludwigsburg capture the small and big feelings of life with their German chansons. The band deals with what often seems difficult to find the right words for - for searching and sometimes also finding, for the fear of what is to come and the hope for what might come. The Hamburg band Tocotronic once said: "You can only write bad songs about longing, you tend to exaggerate a lot". But you tend to doubt this statement when you hear the songs of Café 612. This one is honest enough to hurt.
Café 612 goes back to the German-language songwriting duo "Alcoholic Sunrise", which was founded in 2003 by Matthias Rother and Timo Schaffert at the beginning of their student days. In the years that followed, the two musicians played concerts all over Germany, including as support for Götz Widmann.
After changing their name to Café 612 (612 was the number of the dormitory room in which they wrote their first songs together), the band expanded in 2011 to include bass and reduced brush drums. Maren Peters has accompanied the band on cello since 2012.
The third studio album "Wohin gehen wir jetzt?" was released in July 2023.
