Whether we prefer to perceive them as rosy, lovable putti in baroque glorioles, as guardian angels or as wingless praise-and-glory specialists Kerubim and Serafim: Their " Soli Deo Gloria " always sounds musically polyphonic and pure as a bell; angels are the musicians of heaven.
No wonder that they have left countless traces in the earthly endeavor to set the divine to music. We want to follow them with alert ears this afternoon. And we will find the Bach number 14 in the angels as well as their infinitely heavenly spherical sound in the works of the Thomaskantor.
