Yugoslavia is dead. New states, borders and anthems dominate the image of south-eastern Europe. But the "Jugosphere" is alive! Above all through the common language and the music. The former Yugoslavian states are not only giving each other points at the Eurovision Song Contest. Serbian bands are once again filling halls in Croatia and Bosnia and vice versa. No wonder, because the Balkan music scene is based on the shared and very diverse pop scene of the former Yugoslavia in the 70s and 80s. And while politicians repeatedly insist on the differences between the Balkan peoples, the music focuses on similarities.
From folk songs and pop hits to rock superhits. Music of a youth that has shaped generations and is still the most important link between the people of the Balkans today.
