Not far from the sleepy Swiss village of Mägendorf, the body of young Gritli Moser has been discovered in the woods, the victim of a sex crime and murdered with a razor blade. When Inspector Matthäi sets himself the task of informing the unfortunate parents, he gets carried away and makes a firm promise to solve the case. He soon loses himself in the investigation with increasing obsession and negligence.
