THE LITTLE LORD is best known to German audiences from the touching English TV movie from the 1980s. The musical by Christian Auer and Benjamin Sahler draws on the heartwarming story by the famous English author Frances Hodgson Burnett and introduces audiences to the romantic and elegant world of the Victorian era, as well as the world of simple, poor people for whom kindness and honesty still hold great importance. Christian Auer’s music is influenced by American blues and ragtime, yet also evokes the opulent, triumphant sounds of the English aristocracy. Songs such as “If I Had Money,” “Friends for Life,” “The Earl of Dorincourt,” and the anthem “My Heart Is Yours” leave the audience with a warm, Christmassy feeling of hope and reconciliation after the show.

The musical is staged for the whole family and has no age restriction for children.

In the title role of the Earl of Dorincourt, you’ll see and hear Uwe Kröger, one of the few internationally renowned German musical theater stars. The other leading roles are also played by top-tier talent, with Tanja Maria Froidl as Mrs. Errol and Manuel Schwirz as Dick, Cedric Errol’s American friend.

SYNOPSIS:
Cedric Errol lives with his mother in America in modest circumstances. One day, he learns that he is to inherit the fortune of the wealthy Earl of Dorincourt. He travels with his mother to England to be raised as a count; but his mother is not allowed to live with her son at the castle. Cedric misses his mother terribly, yet he treats his grandfather with boundless kindness. Thanks to his honest and helpful nature, he quickly wins the hearts of people both inside and outside the castle. Even the old, gruff Earl is gradually impressed by Cedric’s kindness and begins to love the boy. But suddenly, an unknown woman steps into the spotlight, claiming that her son is the true heir to the title. Cedric’s future seems in jeopardy until investigations by his old American friends reveal that the woman is a fraud. Cedric thus remains the rightful heir. In the end, the Earl reconciles with Cedric’s mother, the family is happily reunited, and a lavish Christmas celebration takes place.
