Deutschland 2035
- Location:
- Theater der Altstadt, Rotebühlstr. 89, 70178 Stuttgart
Germany in 2035: Democracy has been abolished, and a right-wing populist government has taken power. What is life like in this new world? Who is ridiculed, marginalized, attacked, or even deported? And how did things come to this?
Through writing commissions given to authors and an exploration of Thomas Mann’s famous radio speeches from his American exile, scenes and a collage of texts emerge that allow us to experience—both sensually and symbolically—the values worth defending today, in the year 2026.
In a blend of an audio walk and a performative theatrical stroll through Stuttgart’s western district, the audience experiences a warning from the future that seeks—through the medium of literature—to alert us to the dangers ahead.
