Die Dreigroschenoper

Underworld kingpin Macheath, known as Mackie Messer, has really good contacts with his old war buddy and acting police chief Brown. As a result, he and his clan remain at large despite numerous crimes in the big city's cauldron. Things couldn't be better for the "gentleman gangster" in his private life either. He has married Polly Peachum head over heels. Not only is she his latest conquest, she is also the daughter of the legendary beggar king Jonathan Jeremiah Peachum, owner of the company "Beggar's Friend". Mackie secretly wants to take over the new in-laws' traditional business empire. However, his sexual permissiveness and lies bring him down and ultimately to court. Can the judiciary put a stop to Macheath's fun-filled game of human perfidy (corruption, nepotism, warmongering, greed, fraud, betrayal and murder)? Or is not everyone in the city somehow involved?
