"The Udo Jürgens Story" is a sensitive, entertaining and extraordinary tribute to the grand seigneur of German popular music. The multi-award-winning film and theater actress Gabriela Benesch and Alex Parker, the best-known and best Udo Jürgens interpreter, take their guests on a musical journey through time with hits such as: Merci Cherie / Ein ehrenwertes Haus / Ich war noch niemals in New York / Griechischer Wein / Aber bitte mit Sahne / Mit 66 Jahren / Heute beginnt der Rest Deines Lebens / Liebe ohne Leiden / Traumtänzer/ Und immer wieder geht die Sonne auf / 5 Minuten vor 12 / Mein Ziel - and many more!
In addition, Gabriela Benesch tells enigmatic anecdotes, interesting facts and quotes devotedly from Udo Jürgen's personal notes with charm, wit and empathy. The brilliant duo Benesch and Parker provide an evening full of memories and surprises and will make the heart of every Udo Jürgens fan beat faster.
"Udo Jürgens was a free spirit in every respect. Musically, he moved carefree between pop hits, chanson, jazz and pop music," explains Gabriela Benesch. "In terms of content, he was committed to peace, freedom and, above all, love, and he wasn't afraid to take a stand."
"It would actually take at least three, four or five evenings to pay tribute to his entire oeuvre," explains director Erich Furrer. "But our selection for one evening obviously strikes a chord with the audience. In 2025, we will still include one or two songs at selected events that have not yet been heard in the show. We want to use this experience to carefully develop our successful program further and keep it young for at least another five years."
The narrative insights will be accompanied musically by singer and pianist Alex Parker. It is not without reason that Parker is considered the best-known Udo Jürgens interpreter in the entire German-speaking world. Whether in Hamburg, Dresden, Munich, Berlin or Vienna - Alex Parker delights Udo Jürgens fans and aficionados alike with his wonderful voice and also accompanies himself on the piano in the style of Udo. In the style of his great idol, Parker knows how to create a unique, highly emotional atmosphere between himself and his audience. Udo Jürgens confirmed how close he is to the original to the then 19-year-old Alex Parker himself when he heard him singing in a hotel lobby.
