A story of coming of age and love: Tamino is tasked by the Queen of the Night with rescuing her daughter Pamina, who is being held captive by Sarastro. The birdcatcher Papageno is unwillingly sent along on Tamino’s journey, during which the boundaries between good and evil, wisdom and folly are constantly being redrawn. After numerous trials, Tamino and Pamina find their place in the world—as adults and as lovers. We present the legendary *Magic Flute* from the Komische Oper Berlin, which director Barrie Kosky, in collaboration with the theater and video art collective “1927,” has staged in an astonishing world of video animation for the whole family.
