Dr. Nest

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

As Dr. Nest boards the night train, determined to leave bitter memories and his chaotic life behind, night falls at “Villa Blanca.” At the remote sanatorium—a gathering place for those with troubled fates—he confidently takes up his new position. Driven by curiosity, a thirst for knowledge, and empathy, he encounters the strange and enigmatic phenomena of his patients: lost memories, bodies, split personalities, demons, and delusions. Dr. Nest soon finds himself on the verge of losing his own grip on reality.

What at first seems alienating quickly reveals itself as a ludicrous mirror of his own doubts and insecurities. The fine line between normal and abnormal, between conscious and driven, between healthy and sick, fades before his eyes. In their new play, Familie Flöz returns to the mask. With it and through it, the ensemble casts its gaze upon the enigmatic cartography of the human brain and into the depths of the soul.

Inspired by paradoxical case studies from the broad field of neurology, the play opens the doors to a fictional sanatorium and reveals to the audience the bizarre worlds of its residents—and the staff. Movement, space, words, light, and sound create a narrative—both tragic and comic—about the fragility of human life.
