Collection of the Württemberg State Museum

Duration

300 minutes

Exhibitions at the Old Palace

The Württemberg State Museum is the largest cultural history museum in Baden-Württemberg. Its collections shine with their diversity and significant cultural treasures. Precious artifacts, captivating stories, and concise, accessible background information make every visit an unforgettable experience!

The engaging exhibition “Legendary Masterpieces: Cultural History(ies) from Württemberg” offers a journey from Ice Age art to the end of the Kingdom of Württemberg in the early 20th century. The exhibition is complemented by the interventions “More Than One Reality, which bring queer stories to light and open up new perspectives on familiar historical objects and narratives.

“True Treasures: Antiquity · Celts · Cabinet of Curiosities” brings together three world-class collections. These offer fascinating insights into the advanced civilizations of the Mediterranean region, early Celtic princely residences and monumental tombs, and the cabinet of curiosities of the Dukes of Württemberg.

“Exactly! Clocks and Other Ingenious Inventions” and “Glass from Four Millennia: The Ernesto Wolf Collection” —two collections presented in historic vaulted rooms—showcase extraordinary examples of artisanal craftsmanship and European glass art of the highest caliber.
