After their mother’s death, the two brothers, Bo and Prosper, flee to Venice to escape their cruel aunt. There, they find refuge with a gang of street children. Their leader is Scipio, a boy who wears a mask—the “Lord of Thieves.” He provides for his gang with daring raids on the city’s wealthy. But behind Scipio’s mask and Venice’s colorful carnival masks lies more: magical legends and dark secrets.
