HFM x Arthaus – Wendepunkte: Eternal You – Vom Ende der Endlichkeit

With the film series "HFM x Arthaus - Wendepunkte", the Haus für Film und Medien (HFM) e.V., together with Stuttgart institutions, invites you on a special journey: into the cinema - and right into the heart of the big questions of our time. The series kicks off with "Eternal You" and the question: Is AI the end of finiteness?

The HFM × Arthaus film series enters the next round. Under the title "Turning Points", the Haus für Film und Medien (HFM) e.V. and the Arthaus Filmtheater Stuttgart, together with numerous partner institutions, are showing a multi-layered program of feature films, documentaries and animated films.

On the second Wednesday of every month, from November 2025 to May 2026, the series invites you to cinema evenings accompanied by moderated discussions with guests from the worlds of culture, science and society.

The series kicks off with "Eternal You - On the End of Finitude". The film opens a debate about how far AI should penetrate all our lives - before and after death.

The plot: start-ups are using AI to create digital avatars of the deceased. The film follows the first users and developers of this technology: Joshua continues to live with his dead girlfriend, Jang meets her daughter in VR. A film between consolation, breaking taboos and the question: Is this the end of finiteness?

The evening is a cooperation with the International Center for Culture and Technology Research (IZKT) and the Institute of Philosophy, University of Stuttgart.
The guest is Prof. Dr. Jörg Löschke, Professor of Practical Philosophy, with whom moderator Astrid Beyer will be in conversation after the film.
