Hören, Verstehen, Teilhaben – Kulturelle Zugänge barrierefrei gestalten

Accessibility is not an abstract concept, but an active process that requires commitment and creativity within the team.

Especially when working with all those involved, from planners to organizers, at indoor and outdoor festivals or events, this process becomes a decisive step for the successful implementation of barrier-free communication and inclusive event planning with a focus on hearing.
There is often a wide gap between ideas and reality when it comes to practical implementation. Yet it is the flexible, often inconspicuous solutions that make the difference: How should the lighting be set up for sign language interpreters? How can sensitive, respectful communication with the target group be achieved? And last but not least: What needs to be considered when planning costs in the design phase?
This is exactly where the workshop comes in: It closes gaps in knowledge, creates confidence and promotes a deeper understanding of the needs of people with hearing impairments.

Lecturer
Katharina Pape is a consultant for accessibility with a focus on inclusive event and event management in culture and sport. She supports event organizers in making their events truly accessible and tangible for everyone. She was a co-designer of the Special Olympics World Games 2023 and the children's and youth theater festival "Augenblick mal!". For the city of Stuttgart, she drives the implementation of barrier-free event formats and actively shapes processes that break down barriers. Her meaningful, process-oriented approach is based on a hands-on mentality. She also volunteers as President of the German Deaf Sports Association.

You will receive information on accessibility when you register. You can also register your needs for good participation in the events there. We plan to provide sign language interpreters for the workshops. Please be sure to indicate whether you require interpreters when registering.
