Im Kühlschrank brennt noch Licht oder Lieben Sie Schlager?

Location:

Is the light still on in the fridge, or do you love Schlager music?

A dance theater piece about loneliness set to the songs of Udo Jürgens. O Solitude I

“I’m playing a song for everyone who’s lonely,” sings a man surrounded by cheering fans. Someone who dreams of being with someone else but experiences loneliness. Time and again, Udo Jürgens tells in his songs—even in his most cheerful, catchy tunes—of an unfulfilled longing for love, of hopelessness, and of oppressive loneliness.

We give a real form to this “I”—who speaks out musically, who despairs of himself and his life—and tell his story through dance. For what the voice does not know how to say (or dare to say?), only dance can reveal:

The story of a person who rebels against respectable society, who wants to escape all constraints, but who, even after 66 years—in the park or amid the hustle and bustle of the city—is still searching for the love of his life. And for whom, alone at home at night, only the refrigerator provides light and warmth—a glimmer of hope that the sun will rise again the next morning.

Concept/Choreography/Direction/Musical Concept: Katja Erdmann-Rajski
Dance: Sonia Lautenbacher, Kristina Olearnikova
Lighting: Carolin Bock
Music Editing: Matthias Schneider-Hollek
Dramaturgy: Ulrich Fleischmann
