Transnational Poetics of Extinction
Reading, discussion, and reception with Leeanne Quinn, Aifric, Mac Aodha, and Matthew Rice
Moderators: Jessica Bundschuh, Eóin Flannery, and Toni Bernhart
To mark Ireland’s 2026 EU Presidency, Culture Ireland presents Cultúre 2026. This multimedia performance brings together three of the most exciting poetic voices from Ireland and Northern Ireland: Leeanne Quinn, Aifric Mac Aodha, and Matthew Rice. Each of the three poets will read recent works, including a specially commissioned trilingual poem (in English, Irish, and German) about climate change, the disappearance of languages, and the loss of habitats. The performance is rooted in the belief that the extinction of languages and habitats can give rise to forms of stimulating mourning when productively channeled into literature.
An event supported by Culture Ireland and the University of Stuttgart. The reception following the performance will be hosted by the Irish Consulate General in Munich.
