Everyone knows the Canary Islands: vacations, summer, sunshine—crowded beaches. More than 10 million tourists travel to the islands of eternal spring every year, yet most of them see nothing but the edge of their own swimming pool. Others don’t even make it to the archipelago in the first place: alternative travelers, backpackers, and nature lovers are more drawn to Scandinavia, Patagonia, or New Zealand—places where the landscape is still wild and the people are genuine. What a big mistake!
On a six-month hike, globetrotter André Schumacher discovered that, in reality, the Canary Islands are completely different from what most of us believe. You can save yourself a trip to the moon, for example. The same goes for trips to the rainforests of Costa Rica or the vastness of the Sahara.
By candlelight and with a glass of red wine, the photographic artist recounts the funniest stories, most curious discoveries, and most hair-raising moments: Does cucumber beer really boost your libido? What do you do with a free highway tunnel? And what do six musicians sound like when they only have seven teeth between them?
Look forward to an extraordinary presentation—a mix of photos, videos, time-lapse footage, and hand-drawn animations—and lots of fun!
