To Be a Cucumber or a Cactus—Which Strategy Is the Right One for Survival? Two ladies decide to bid farewell to their kindness and indulge in malice. To this end, they bring Alfred Jarry’s bitterly wicked, grotesque farce about the greedy, cruel, and cowardly King UBU and his no less terrible wife to the stage:
Mother UBU persuades Father UBU to assassinate the King of Pompolonia, take his place, and amass immeasurable wealth. The assassination succeeds; UBU becomes king, bestowing gifts upon and swindling his people while slaughtering his potential opponents.
And the ladies? They discover that even cacti die if you water them too much…
