Alfonso Paso LOVE IS THE BEST MEDICINE Comedy
In the Swabian dialect by Monika Hirschle

Laugh until the doctor comes! Experience Monika Hirschle in a star role as Dr. Stefanie Maiwald—in Swabian, of course!

Sandra Schmied and Christian Räpple have all sorts of aches and pains. They’re regulars at Dr. Maiwald’s office, hoping to find relief there. However, the doctor diagnoses both of them with severe loneliness, caused by the recent passing of their respective spouses. In the waiting room, Sandra and Christian grow closer. And suddenly, all their ailments seem to vanish into thin air. However, they didn’t count on their children. Their respective kids, Hannah and Alexander, find Mom and Dad’s newfound passion for love anything but pleasant.

The topic of loneliness and its consequences is more relevant than ever. The play tackles the subject in a charming and extremely humorous way, showing that love is the best medicine. Or was it laughter? With us, you’ll experience both!

Monika Hirschle has adapted the play—originally titled “Schöne Geschichten mit Papa und Mama”—for a Swabian audience and guides the audience through the plot as Dr. Maiwald. Amelie Sturm and Andreas Klaue, as a couple newly in love, bring energy to the comedy.

The play is directed by Karin Eppler, who has already delighted us with productions such as “Frau Knöpfle kann’s nicht lassen” and “Dinner for One—How It All Began.”

Performances March 27 through May 16, 2027

Starring Monika Hirschle, Andreas Klaue, Lena Mall, Stefan Müller-Doriat, Amelie Sturm
Directed by Karin Eppler
Set and Costumes by Vesna Hiltmann
Dramaturgy by Lena Roth
