A reading concert with Helen Pavel, Natascha Vexler and the jazz trio SAITE16
Lascivious ballads and songs by Francois Villon (adapted by Paul Zech): It is not surprising that Bertolt Brecht was also inspired by them around a hundred years ago. And then there are some of Mozart's letters to his Bäsle, wonderful texts by Heinrich Heine, mischievous stories about the pastimes of St. Anthony of Padua and much more. It's always about love and everything that goes with it: sung, played, recited.
There was an old king,
his heart was heavy, his head was gray;
The poor old king,
he took a young wife.
There was a handsome page,
blond was his head, light was his mind;
he wore the young queen's silken train
.
Do you know the old song?
It sounds so sweet, it sounds so dull!
They both had to die,
they loved each other far too much.
Heinrich Heine: New Spring, 1831
