Between seduction, dominance, self-doubt, and ridicule: Prof. Götz Payer’s art song class (HMDK Stuttgart) invites you to a classical art song recital of a special kind. The students explore the theme of “masculinity” through music, questioning traditional gender roles and the ever-changing nature of manhood. Inspired by Herbert Grönemeyer’s famous question, “When is a man a man?” the evening brings powerful emotions, a break from clichés, and magnificent voices to the stage—and presents the classical art song repertoire in a modern, socially relevant context!
