The sensational feel-good musical MAMMA MIA! in the original English version with German subtitles will be performing in Bregenz, Vienna, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Berlin, Cologne, Oberhausen, and Bremen in 2027.
From the West End to a global phenomenon! MAMMA MIA! is Judy Craymer’s brilliant interpretation of the timeless ABBA songs in the form of a lighthearted and funny story about a mother, a daughter, and three potential fathers on an idyllic Greek island.
The productions in Germany and Austria are celebrating more than 25 years of MAMMA MIA! since its premiere in London in April 1999. And to this day, MAMMA MIA! remains the third-longest-running musical in London’s West End, with over 11 million attendees. MAMMA MIA! has been seen by more than 70 million audience members in 50 productions and in 16 different languages. In 2011, MAMMA MIA! became the first musical from the Western Hemisphere to be performed in Mandarin in the People’s Republic of China. MAMMA MIA! became the eighth-longest-running show in Broadway history, where it ran for a record-breaking 14 years.
Since its premiere in London’s West End, the world’s most spectacular and entertaining musical has been given new life through two highly successful film adaptations. MAMMA MIA!, the 2008 film produced by Judy Craymer, became the most successful musical of all time upon its release, and the second film, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN, released in 2018, is the most successful live-action musical sequel of all time.
The music and lyrics for *MAMMA MIA!* were written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. The screenplay was written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production was conceived by Mark Thompson; lighting design was by Howard Harrison; sound design was by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken; and musical direction, additional material, and arrangements were by Martin Koch.
The MAMMA MIA! International Tour is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East, and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in collaboration with Universal and NGM.
