Mark Eliyahu
Mark Eliyahu was born in Dagestan in 1982, the son of Piris Eliyahu, a world-renowned tar master, composer, arranger, and musicologist. He has devoted his entire life to music since birth. Eliyahu, who developed a strong connection to instruments such as the violin and piano, discovered the baglama at the age of 12 or 13, and at 16 he traveled to Greece to study the baglama, taking lessons from Ross Daly.
While learning about Turkish music from his teacher, one morning he heard the sound of the kamancheh on a CD and was deeply impressed by it. At the age of 17, he traveled to Azerbaijan to learn the kamantche, where he studied Persian-Azerbaijani music under his master, Adalet Vazirov.
Mark Eliyahu combines ancient instruments such as the kamantche and tar with modern and futuristic electronics, taking you on a profound sonic journey.
