Nektarios Vlachopoulos

Please note: Reality is merely a suggestion. Perceptions may vary from person to person—and Nektarios Vlachopoulos’s mind has spiced things up a bit too much.
In his latest solo show, the multi-award-winning cabaret artist (recipient of the German & Bavarian Cabaret Prize Encouragement Award, among many others) tackles a very personal topic: mental health. With plenty of wit, linguistic precision, and surprising lightness, he shares his experiences with depression, mania, and APPS. In doing so, he brings to the stage an issue that affects many people but is all too rarely discussed. Personal, authentic, and above all: incredibly entertaining.
Serious topics don’t have to be presented in a heavy-handed way. Vlachopoulos takes his audience on a wonderful journey through the most beautiful abysses of the human consciousness. Along the way, he also casually touches on the great themes of humanity—such as philosophy, politics, and party hits—and ultimately poses what is probably the most unsettling of all questions: What actually counts as “normal” here?
