In a joint event organized by Weissenburg e.V. and the Grafeneck Memorial - Documentation Centre, the developments and effects of the völkisch (Nazi) gender ideology will be presented, explored in depth and discussed.

Our conference begins with an introduction to the developments and consequences of the völkisch gender ideologies that emerged in the 19th century, which were closely interwoven with nationalist, racist and imperialist currents. For the alleged "superiority" of the "Aryan race", men were supposed to prove their military virtues, while women had to give birth to "racially valuable" children.

The injustice that such gender standardization led to, especially during the Nazi era, is the subject of three short lectures: Abortions and homosexuality, intersexuality, being trans* and gender-nonconforming lifestyles in general were fought against as a threat to the "national community".

What can be done against the (re)strengthening of ethnic gender ideologies?

The concluding panel discussion is dedicated to current issues:

How do right-wing populist, neo-Nazi and neo-fascist groups link racism, misogyny and queerophobia today?
What has changed in nationalist gender ideologies?
How can we effectively counter the discrimination, defamation and threats associated with these ideologies?
