POEM OF FORCE

Location:
Theater Rampe, Filderstr. 47, 70180 Stuttgart

The dance performance by Stuttgart-based choreographer Smadar Goshen, featuring five female performers, explores the concept of power—not as a spectacle, but as a principle that shapes the body, decision-making, language, and social order. To this end, they draw on the *Iliad* and Greek tragedies and ask questions about truth in an age when media and communication frame events differently. What is real, and what is constructed—both publicly and in personal experience? Inspired by Simone Weil’s interpretation of the *Iliad* as a “poem of power,” the work understands “power” as something that can turn people into objects. This idea shapes their physical exploration: How do bodies react, how do they resist, and how do they internalize what happens to them?
