SKIPINNISH are a driving force in contemporary Scottish music and in 2024 looked back on a remarkable 25-year career. Hailing from the heart of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the band have become a household name on the Celtic music scene, delighting audiences with their powerful blend of traditional and modern sounds.
In November 2026, SKIPINNISH finally come to Germany for eight shows.
SKIPINNISH was founded in 1999 by Angus MacPhail and Andrew Stevenson and is deeply rooted in the Scottish musical tradition. The band's name refers to their homeland and their close connection to land, sea and Gaelic culture.
With bagpipes, accordion, vocals, fiddle and a powerful rhythm section, SKIPINNISH combines traditional sounds with modern energy. Their self-penned songs, which often reflect the landscape and culture of the Highlands, have brought them worldwide recognition - including the anthem 'Walking on the Waves', which was performed to over 100 million people at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2022.
The band celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2024 with two major concerts: a spectacular return to the Highlands near Inverness and a performance on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, where artists such as Rod Stewart, The Who, Kylie Minogue, Pink and Runrig had previously played. The subsequent show at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow in September 2025 crowned this success story - as a thank you to their fans and as a preview of the band's promising future. Now they are adding a tour of Germany to this success story in 2026.
