KIPINNISH are a driving force in contemporary Scottish music and, in 2024, looked back on a remarkable 25-year career. Hailing from the heart of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, the band has become a fixture in the Celtic music scene, thrilling audiences with its powerful blend of traditional and modern sounds.

SKIPINNISH was founded in 1999 by Angus MacPhail and Andrew Stevenson and is deeply rooted in the Scottish musical tradition. The band’s name reflects their homeland and their close connection to the land, the sea, and Gaelic culture. With bagpipes, accordion, vocals, fiddle, and a powerful rhythm section, SKIPINNISH blends traditional sounds with modern energy. Their original songs, which often reflect the landscape and culture of the Highlands, have earned them worldwide recognition—including the anthem “Walking on the Waves,” which was performed in 2022 at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in front of over 100 million viewers. To mark their 25th anniversary in 2024, the band celebrated with two major concerts: a spectacular homecoming to the Highlands near Inverness and a performance on the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, where artists such as Rod Stewart, The Who, Kylie Minogue, Pink, and Runrig had previously performed. The subsequent show at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow in September 2025 capped off this success story.

The band’s German tour, originally scheduled for November 2026, unfortunately has to be postponed. Statement from the band:

Skipinnish unfortunately have to postpone their German tour planned for November 2026. The band deeply regrets this decision but sees it as an opportunity to offer their German fans an even better concert experience. A new date has now been set: They will go on tour in October 2027, bringing fresh songs from their new album with them.
