Moritz Neumeier
with “Pur”
Well. Here I am again, sitting here and supposed to write a program note.
For a program called PUR. So… what’s it about?
Everything. Nothing. What’s left when you leave everything else out.
PUR is an evening without excuses. Without a safety net. Without the reassuring feeling that this is “just for fun”—even though, of course, that’s exactly what it is. Fun. Well, most of the time.
It’s about truth. Your own. About doubt. About contradictions. About that constant feeling of being a pretty good person and yet, somehow, the problem at the same time. About kids, responsibility, being overwhelmed, therapy. About politics, but only until it hurts. And about laughter—right at the moment when you realize you really shouldn’t be laughing. Or should you?
As always, Moritz Neumeier talks about things you might prefer to keep quiet about—and still manages to make you feel surprisingly at ease. Or at least not completely alone.
And in the end, you sit there, laughing, reflecting—and briefly ask yourself:
Was that funny? Or was that serious? Whatever. It was good.
