A shipwreck. A remote island.
A magician who can't forget his past.
And a world in which no one plays just one role.

With "The Tempest", Shakespeare created a dazzling late work between fairy tale, power play and grotesque comedy. In tri-bühne's production, poetic linguistic images meet abrupt changes of perspective, melancholy moments meet absurd humor and clownish situations.

The island becomes a place of inner and outer struggles: memories emerge, identities are shaken, alliances are constantly shifting. Characters appear twice, contradict themselves or lose control of their own stories.

Between magic, deception and rebellion, the result is a multi-layered evening of theater that both takes Shakespeare's text seriously and playfully dissects it. Comedy arises where power tips over into the ridiculous, language fails and control suddenly turns into chaos.

Thus "Tempest" reveals itself to be both a poetic and anarchic play - in a poetic adaptation for a small ensemble, full of wit, darkness and surprising tenderness.
