Stuttgarter Engagement-Gespräche 2025: Mit Ehrenamt die Demokratie stärken

The Stuttgart Engagement Talks organized by the frEE Academy promote exchange and networking on socially relevant topics. On October 8 at 5 p.m. at the Rotebühlplatz meeting point, the topic will be "More democracy than you think - strengthening democracy with volunteering". All interested parties are welcome.

How can democracy be lived in everyday life - and what does this have to do with volunteering? The next Stuttgart Engagement Talk at the frEE Academy is dedicated to this question.

Democracy thrives on participation, dialog and cohesion - values that many volunteers put into practice every day. The event will shed light on how democracy can be strengthened through volunteering: Where does this happen very practically, sometimes casually, in the everyday life of associations, initiatives or social projects? What skills can be trained - and how can everyone help shape democratic processes even without an official office or mandate?
The evening will also focus on the question of what volunteering needs in order to fulfill this central role for social cohesion. After all, democracy in practice is not only evident in political processes, but also in everyday life - for example in the willingness to take on responsibility, allow different perspectives and actively help shape the way we live together. Volunteering makes a significant contribution to this in many areas.
Impulse and discussion:
After an introductory impulse by Tomma Profke, CEO of Team Tomorrow e. V., volunteers from various areas of society talk about their experiences, challenges and perspectives:

-Dominik Hermet, Sportkreis Stuttgart e. V., Bündnis für Demokratie und Menschenrechte
-Alla Lesun, involved in psychological counseling for refugee children and young people
-Christian Siani Pouandeu, Kamerunischer Verein Landkreis Stuttgart e. V.
-young volunteers from the Stuttgart Youth Community Council and Team Tomorrow

The event offers space for exchange, inspiration and networking. Guests are welcome to contribute their own questions and perspectives.

The Engagement Talk is a cooperation between the frEE-Akademie Stuttgart, the Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Baden-Württemberg, the Bündnis für Demokratie und Menschenrechte Stuttgart and the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg / Europe Direct Stuttgart.

The Stuttgart Engagement Talks are aimed at committed individuals, associations, organizations and all interested parties. They address current social issues, provide impetus, encourage discussion and offer a platform for networking.
