Top Gun: Maverick - in Concert: The blockbuster with live orchestra
TopGun: Maverick - in Concert
The blockbuster with live orchestra
Tony Scott's 1986 film "Top Gun" reached breathtaking heights, not least thanks to the world-famous song "Take My Breath Away" and the soundtrack by Harold Faltermeyer. Even then, there was speculation about a sequel to the screen epic and its soundtrack. The sequel "Top Gun: Maverick" by Joseph Kosinski followed 36 years later and is considered one of the most successful films of all time with six Oscar nominations and one Oscar win. The film music experience "Top Gun: Maverick - in Concert" follows on from this. While the award-winning blockbuster is shown on the big screen, a large symphony orchestra brings the soundtrack to life live in the concert hall.
"Is that even possible?" Tom Cruise, alias Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, answers this question confidently in 2022: "The answer lies solely with the captain in the cockpit." Maverick, one of the Navy's best aviators, once again reaches the limits of what is possible, this time alongside the self-confident Natasha "Phoenix" Trace. Back at his old elite flying school "Top Gun", he is tasked with preparing young pilots for a dangerous mission - and encounters the ghosts of his past.
Action-packed flying scenes and deep emotions are once again set to music by Harold Faltermeyer, supported by Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and Lady Gaga as well as Lorne Balfe as co-composer. The soundtrack continues the musical legacy of "Top Gun" from 1986 with a breath of fresh air under its wings.
