Top Gun: Maverick - in Concert

Top Gun: Maverick – in Concert
The blockbuster with a live orchestra

Tony Scott’s 1986 film “Top Gun” soared to breathtaking heights, not least thanks to the world-famous song “Take My Breath Away” and the soundtrack by Harold Faltermeyer. Even back then, there was speculation about a sequel to the cinematic epic and its score. It wasn’t until 36 years later that the sequel, “Top Gun: Maverick” by Joseph Kosinski, was released; with six Oscar nominations and one Oscar win, it is considered one of the most successful films of all time. The film music experience “Top Gun: Maverick – in Concert” builds on this legacy. While the award-winning blockbuster plays on the big screen, a large symphony orchestra brings the soundtrack to life live in the concert hall.

“Is that even possible?” Tom Cruise, playing Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, confidently answers this question in 2022: “The answer lies solely with the captain in the cockpit.” Maverick, one of the Navy’s best pilots, once again pushes the limits of what’s possible, this time alongside the self-assured Natasha “Phoenix” Trace. Back at his old elite flight school, “Top Gun,” he’s tasked with preparing young pilots for a dangerous mission—and in the process, he encounters the ghosts of his past.

Action-packed flight scenes and deep emotions are once again set to music by Harold Faltermeyer, supported by Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and Lady Gaga, as well as Lorne Balfe as co-composers. Infused with a breath of fresh air, the soundtrack continues the musical legacy of the 1986 film “Top Gun.”
