Stuttgart Symposium 2025 Historical and current perspectives on the southwest
How can a democracy defend itself against its enemies? This question is the subject of controversial debate in the face of numerous current threats. The Stuttgart Symposium 2025 aims to enrich these debates by looking back into the past. How defensible was Weimar democracy? What lessons were learned from Weimar for the Federal Republic? Can state action effectively protect a democracy at all?
With contributions from Prof. Dr. Vanessa Conze (Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt), PD Dr. Tobias Kaiser (Commission for the History of Parliamentarism and Political Parties, Berlin), Dr. Stefanie Palm (Institute of Contemporary History, Berlin Department), Dr. Sebastian Rojek (Stuttgart City Archive), Dr. Moritz Fischer (RWTH Aachen University) and Dr. Maren Richter (Munich)
