What a Man*? Ein Performance-Abend

Duration

120 minutes

What does masculinity mean today? Navigating traditional role models, societal expectations, and new perspectives, the performance evening “What a Man*?” (curated by THE REAL OFFICE) invites audiences to take a critical, artistic, and fresh look at notions of what it means to be a man.

Inspired by the famous song title by Salt-N-Pepa, artists bring their perspectives on masculinity to the stage. Dance, music, and spoken word explore themes such as fatherhood, patriarchal structures, violence against women, love between men, and male passions. The result is a series of compelling performances that challenge stereotypes, provoke thought, and create space for new images of masculinity.

In conjunction with the special exhibition “Ornament & Symbol: What Adorns Men,” the evening combines artistic performance with current social issues and invites discussion.

Here’s what to expect:

  • An artistic exploration of masculinity and gender roles
  • Performances on topics such as fatherhood, love, violence, power, and identity
  • New perspectives on societal expectations of men
  • Inspiring insights as part of the special exhibition “Ornament & Symbol: What Adorns Men”
