Daniel, an internationally successful conductor, returns to his hometown after suffering a breakdown. There, old wounds and a curious village community await him. At first reluctant, but then with growing dedication, he takes over as director of the church choir. The choir members are thrilled, experiencing music and community—together with Daniel—in a whole new way. But his innovations also encounter skepticism, bigotry, and serious resistance. The community, relationships, perspectives, and aspirations all begin to change. A joint choir tour leads to a musical and dramatic climax…

“As in Heaven” is a theatrical production based on the well-known Swedish musical film. Together with members of choirs from the surrounding parishes, the play is performed at the neighboring St. John’s Church.
