Roof Songs - intimate and sparkling
The duo project with the unusual line-up of vibraphone and double bass was created during the corona pandemic. Dizzy Krisch was able to win over the Stuttgart double bass player Karoline Höfler, with whom he has been working for around 25 years. Thanks to the musical understanding that has grown, the musical work is possible in a wide variety of unconventional ways.
Dizzy Krisch's new cycle "roof songs" was created during the forced retreat of the musician, who is usually in constant contact with his audience. The music reflects the intimacy of this retreat and follows the idea of overcoming the feeling of confinement in order to convey a sense of freedom.
The press writes:
...they do what is part of the quintessence of jazz and jazz chamber music: Listening to each other, reacting to each other, supporting each other, letting the thoughts flow and never slipping into the arbitrary... Each of the fifteen pieces composed by Krisch has its own character...
...Taken from a bird's eye view, the many compositions unite to form an arabesque in which the boundaries and roles of solo, accompaniment and unison are constantly blurred, straight rhythms deform into free recitative: sparkling and glittering, sometimes cheeky modern jazz poetry by two sworn musicians...
Dizzy Krisch - vib, comp
Karoline Höfler - bass

sDELTA - effortless and limited
Exploring opposites and their fusion
In an improvisational and compositional context
Reinhold Braig and Marcus Weiss have chosen to explore this contrast - machine versus physicality - as the starting point for this duo project *sDELTA*.
Acoustics and electronics act as a sum and appear as a difference, including role reversal.
Long at home both in the jazz tradition and in contemporary music, the musicians allow spontaneous improvisations and notated passages to meet electronic textures that also include the concert space as a whole.
Marcus Weiss - sax
Reinhold Braig - live-electronic
