In the ultra-modern, clinically clean residential complex "Wonderland Ave." the last people to be weeded out of the work process spend their days pondering their past lives, loves, dreams and desires under the supervision of artificial intelligence...

Sybille Berg shows a future in which humanity has finally pulled the plug - but the wellness applications continue to run mercilessly. The setting is an exclusive repository for a species that has simply become superfluous in its endless efforts to save itself. While the machines record and comment on human inadequacies with cool elegance and not without amusement, the hero of the story stumbles through an absurd ballet of self-optimization, heartache and the desperate search for the next organic smoothie.
