How can we convincingly convey the value of culture—especially when even robust studies and evidence of its impact fail to prevent cultural budgets from coming under pressure?
At the next edition of zukunft:kultur on Tuesday, November 24, at the Merlin Cultural Center in Stuttgart, Prof. Dr. Yvonne Pröbstle, deputy director of the institute and director of the master’s program in Cultural Studies and Cultural Management at the Ludwigsburg University of Education, Anna Gohmert, visual artist, founding member and part of Mothers*, Warriors and Poets and a mentor at the Baden-Württemberg Art Office, Jérôme Jussef Lenzen, co-program director of the Cultural Management and Cultural Policy program at the Federal Academy for Cultural Education in Wolfenbüttel, and Sven Reisch, head of the Böblingen Office of Culture, will discuss this question. The discussion will be moderated by Magdalen Pirzer, Head of the Department of Cultural Promotion for the State Capital of Stuttgart.
The focus is on the question of which arguments give culture political relevance and how its value can be communicated without reducing it to numbers and measurable effects. Must we give up hope for evidence—or talk about the value of culture in a different way?
Join the conversation with our guests and discuss how the value of culture can be justified, communicated, and politically advocated in the future.
