Limeswanderweg Etappe Öhringen - Lorch
Öhringen-Pfedelbach-Mainhardt-Großerlach-Grab-Murrhardt-Kaisersbach-Welzheim-Alfdorf-Pfahlbronn-Lorch
With a length of 550 km, 900 guard posts and 120 larger and smaller fort sites, the outer Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes is one of the most impressive archaeological monuments in Central Europe. In summer 2005, this largest archaeological monument in Central Europe was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. This means that the ancient border between the Roman Empire and the Germanic tribes, as part of the borders of the Roman Empire in Europe, the Near East and North Africa, enjoys international protection. Where in the north the forest mountains of the edge of the Keuper steps separate the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park from the Hohenlohe Plain, the Limes hiking trail with the red line and black gymnastic symbol comes from Öhringen and leads via Mainhardt, Murrhardt, Welzheim to the Haghof near Alfdorf-Pfahlbronn in a straight line. Along the Limes hiking trail, you can look forward to reconstructed Limes watchtowers, preserved and partially reconstructed forts, fortifications with ramparts, ditches and palisades and, of course, impressive museums.
