The Märklineum & Märklin Shop Göppingen
Your safety and wellbeing is of great concern to us. Please noite the following:
The Märklineum is becoming a new tourist attraction in the greater Stuttgart area. More than just model railroad fans can experience the history of the Märklin Company with its rich tradition.
The first construction phase, the Märklin Store, is already finished and open. The steel construction is similar to that of a locomotive shed so that the Store itself is worth seeing. There, numerous glass display cases present products from the firms Märklin, Trix, and LGB. In addition, all of the famous manufacturers of accessory products are in the assortment. The "Fundgrube" or "Treasure Trove" offers special bargains, and Märklin Service has help for every model railroad. Naturally, visitors will also find ideas for small gifts and souvenirs during their visit.
In the courtyard before the museum, a 130 metric ton, 22 meter / 72 foot long and 4.30 meter / 14 foot high class 44 locomotive awaits visitors. This locomotive is currently undergoing extensive restoration.
The second construction phase, the core, is to open in Autumn of 2020. Products from the entire history of our firm will be presented in 2,000 square meters / 20,000 square feet of exhibition space. Modern communications concepts will present the Märklin history in a graphic, easy-to-understand manner. The 400 square meter / 4,000 square foot large model railroad layout is accessible on two levels and will take even more shape at the time of the opening.
The company recognized years ago the necessity for a new concept. The old museum in the business park on the east side of Göppingen did not fulfill the expectations of many visitors. The goal of the Märklineum on the one side is customer loyalty, on the other side customer acquisition. "We want to motivate people for the theme of model railroading!" according to Florian Sieber, managing director.
