Centrally located and yet idyllic: the Lehenviertel impresses with its many elegant streets and architecturally impressive buildings, mostly built in Art Nouveau style. The quarter between Heusteigviertel and Marienplatz was developed around 1900 and largely spared from the war. Many of the houses are now listed buildings.
People not only live here, they also work. In some backyards there are still the small buildings of the craftsmen and practically every house has a shop on the ground floor. Particularly worth mentioning is the varied gastronomic offer in this quarter. Another highlight is the annual street festival "Stars of the South" in September, which is celebrated from Marienplatz along Liststraße.
