The Schauspiel Stuttgart

This Way

in 913 Meter Start Route

A place for touching theatre, international diversity and a lively dialogue between art and audience.
At Schauspiel Stuttgart you will find acting at its best and it is even one of the most renowned theatres in the German-speaking world. Under the new artistic director Burkhard C. Kosminski, Schauspiel Stuttgart stands for contemporary author's theatre with numerous world premieres and first performances as well as a great variety of international directing styles. Since the 2018/19 season, the 34-member ensemble has been complemented by a European ensemble with actors from Poland, Croatia and Germany under the artistic direction of Oliver Frljić. In the two main venues, the Schauspielhaus and the Kammertheater, demanding and entertaining theatre evenings are created with texts by contemporary authors as well as fresh looks at (modern) classics.

Together with the Stuttgart State Opera and the Stuttgart Ballet, the Schauspiel Stuttgart forms the Staatstheater Stuttgart, the largest multi-discipline theatre in Europe. With about 1,000 performances per year, the State Theatres reach around 500,000 spectators. Over 1,350 employees from more than 50 nations make it possible for performances to take place in the opera house, playhouse, chamber theatre and the other venues.
