Theater tri-bühne Stuttgart

WHAT?
Political, social and artistic aspirations combined with poetry, pleasure and playfulness - this is what Theater tri-bühne stands for. Our repertoire covers the entire spectrum of dramatic literature: tragedies and comedies, classics and modern plays, dramatizations of epic material, experimental plays and readings on current, burning issues.

At the moment, and this is unusual for a theater of the size and financial resources of the tri-bühne, we have up to 9 productions in our repertoire.

WHERE?
Theater tri-bühne was founded in 1975 by Michael and Edith Koerber and Johanna Bäumker as an independent group. It performed at the Forumtheater and the Künstlerhaus Reuchlinstraße, among others, until it was given a permanent venue in 1979 with a studio stage in the Tagblatt-Turm-Areal. Between 2003 and 2004, the area was completely rebuilt and extended. Thanks to the extraordinary commitment of the city of Stuttgart, a veritable cultural center has been created in "Unterm Turm", right in the center of Stuttgart. Since the conversion, the Theater tri-bühne now has two stages in alternating operation: the original stage 2, a black box with a maximum of 109 seats, and the new stage 1 with fixed seating for up to 154 spectators. As a rule, there is free seating in both halls.

WHO?
The Theater tri-bühne ensemble currently consists of six actors and actresses. In the 2023/24 season, these are Natalja Maas, Sebastian Huber, Stefani Matkovic, Silvia Passera, Manuel Krstanovic and Aki Tougiannidis. Depending on the production, there will also be additional guest actors and actresses.
Theater tri-bühne has been directed by László Bagossy and Stefan Kirchknopf since the 2023/24 season.

WITH WHOM?
For some years now, one focus of our work has been on local, regional, national and international collaborations.

A current example of this is Gianni, which we are producing together with the independent group Budapesti Skizo. We have been cooperating with the Forum of Cultures for many years to stage the Made in Stuttgart and Made in Germany festivals. Our cooperation with Kalimera e.V. is also very successful; together we organize the series "Greek Film Days at the Theater tri-bühne".

Every two years, our contacts and collaborations lead to the Stuttgart European Theatre Meeting (SETT), which was organized by Theater tri-bühne for the first time in 1993. SETT 2024 is planned for November 2024.

WITH WHAT?
The Theater tri-bühne and the SETT are funded by the Cultural Office of the City of Stuttgart and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

The sponsor is "tri-bühne e.V.", which is recognized as a non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible.
