The countdown is on: With the symbolic handoff of the Finals flag, the 2027 Finals in Stuttgart have officially kicked off. During the ARD live broadcast of the 2026 Finals in Hanover on July 26, Hanover’s Mayor Belit Onay and the First Regional Councilor of the Hanover Region, Jens Palandt, handed the flag over to Stuttgart’s Mayor Dr. Frank Nopper. All eyes are now on Stuttgart—and the anticipation for the major multisport event in 2027 can begin.
The 2027 Finals will take place in Stuttgart from July 29 to August 1. According to current plans, 16 German championships will be held at nine sports venues in the capital of Baden-Württemberg.
Sports already being planned for the 2027 Finals include artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming, speed climbing, 3x3 basketball, BMX (featuring the disciplines of flatland, park, and race), as well as triathlon and canoeing. Discussions are underway with the German Athletics Federation regarding the possible relocation of an athletics discipline to Stuttgart.
Many sports will take place in unusual locations, close to the people and right in the heart of the city. Beach volleyball in the Ehrenhof courtyard of the New Palace, breaking in front of the State Opera House, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on the Neckar River, and 3x3 basketball on the market square. The Porsche Arena, the swimming pool at NeckarPark, and the BMX park are also part of the Finals in Stuttgart as competition venues.
ARD and ZDF will broadcast live on TV and via streaming over four days.
