Von Michelbach zum Einkorn
With panoramic views of the Einkorn
The trail toward Einkorn starts from the parking lot by the swimming pool—it’s a leisurely walk with no long warm-up stretch.
After just a short while, you’ll reach a colorful flower meadow, which—depending on the season—is filled with daisies, clover, and many other wildflowers. This is a great spot for your first stop: The view opens up wide toward Michelbach, and it immediately becomes clear why this hike is so popular with families and leisure hikers.
The trail then continues on to two more lookout points. Along the way, benches and small open spots by the trail repeatedly invite you to pause for a moment, take a deep breath, and let the landscape sink in. A particularly pleasant stop is the water treading pool: On warm days, the cold water provides a welcome refreshment—children especially tend to have a blast here, while adults use the break to catch their breath.
From there, the trail continues along the former “Arbeitsdienstweg, ” which is now considered a historic section of the ascent. Step by step, you’ll get closer to the Einkorn until you finally reach the summit. The grand finale awaits at the top: from the wooden observation tower, you’ll enjoy a magnificent panoramic view. The view stretches all the way to Schwäbisch Hall and Hessental, to Comburg Castle, and—on a clear day—as far as the Welzheimer Forest. Right at the foot of the tower, a beer garden invites you to stop for a break. Right next to it lies the atmospheric church ruin, where many a celebration is still held today. Its history dates back to a pilgrimage in 1472 and lends the place a special atmosphere.
On the way back, you’ll pass the monument to Friedrich Carl Eggel and then make your way back to Michelbach at a leisurely pace.
